Our team uses AI as a creative tool to draft and illustrate faster, but a human is always in the loop: reviewing, editing, and polishing every page before it ships. Unlike raw AI slop or name-swap templates, StorySurprise stories are hand-finished by our team before delivery.

Never when you submit a request — that's free. We create your story and send a private preview link (usually 45–60 minutes). You read the cover and free preview pages first. If something isn't right, request changes on the story page before paying. You only checkout when you're happy and ready to unlock the full book. The price is always shown on screen before Stripe charges you.

Unlocking the full story after preview: Standard from $8.99 (8 pages + cover), Premium from $24.99 (12 pages + cover). One child hero is included — add three heroes for +$5 or a full family cast (up to 5) for +$10. Someone else's shared link? Unlock from $7.99 one-time. You only pay after reading the free preview — never at request time.

We use Stripe for secure one-time payments. Stripe supports major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other methods depending on your country. We do not store your card details on our servers.

Yes. Every story link is marked noindex — Google and other search engines won't list your child's story in results. Only people with the exact private URL can view it. We collect only what's needed to create your book (first name, optional photos) and don't sell data or run ad tracking. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Most stories are written for children aged 2–10, but we tailor reading level, themes, and vocabulary to the age you provide in your request. Bedtime stories, birthday adventures, and gentle learning themes are all common.

Yes — and you should, before you pay. After reading your free preview pages, use the change-request form on the story page to describe what you'd like different (names, plot, illustrations). We'd rather fix it than have you unlock a book you don't love. No charge until you're happy with the preview.

We offer multiple hand-finished illustration styles including watercolor, digital art, fairy tale, sketchbook, mid-century, 3D cartoon, and more. You can mention a preferred style in your custom story request.

After Stripe checkout you should return to the same story link with the full book unlocked. If payment succeeded but pages are still locked, wait a minute and refresh. Make sure you're opening the original link (not a forwarded copy missing the session). If it still fails, contact us with your email and the story link — we'll verify payment and fix access.

Our team creates your illustrated book (AI-enabled, human-reviewed) and emails a private preview link — usually within 45–60 minutes. No payment yet. Open the link, read the free preview pages, request changes if needed, then unlock the full story when you're ready. Your chosen package (Standard from $8.99, Premium from $24.99, plus any character add-ons) is what you'll see at checkout — only if you choose to pay.

Yes — optional reference photos on the request form help us match hair colour, features, or a favourite toy in the art. You can submit up to three images. We only use photos to create your story and handle them as described in our Privacy Policy. No photos? We can still make a wonderful book from the details you provide.

Yes. Each story has a private link you can forward to grandparents, co-parents, or anyone you trust. Links are blocked from search engine indexing (noindex) — they won't appear on Google — but anyone with the exact URL can view it, so share only with people you trust.

StorySurprise delivers stories as a digital illustrated reader — optimized for phones, tablets, and desktop. There is no automatic print or PDF download today. If you're interested in a printed keepsake, mention it in your request or contact form and we'll let you know what's possible.

On a shared story page, use the change-request form (below the preview or paywall) to describe what you'd like different — names, plot details, illustration notes, etc. We review requests and follow up by email. For custom orders, we include a quality check before final delivery.

Email us via the contact form at storysurprise.store/contact with your request. We will delete or export personal data we hold (such as request form details or photos you uploaded) in line with our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR obligations. Story links themselves are controlled by whoever created or purchased the share.

Unlock payments are one-time Stripe checkouts for digital story access. If something went wrong — double charge, payment succeeded but the story didn't unlock, or the product wasn't delivered as agreed — contact us with your email and receipt. We handle genuine issues case by case in line with our Terms of Service.
